Tradition, Generations & The Divine
I deeply respect Indian traditions and the wisdom passed down through generations. I believe traditions should not be imposed on the next generation as rules, but understood, experienced, and embraced with meaning. Customs may evolve with time, but the values, ethics and संस्कार at their core should remain.
I also feel fortunate to have had an environment that supported me in practising many of these traditions. And if we can pass on even a little of that wisdom and positivity to the next generation, why not?
Today, I wondered: when we have the opportunity to spread positive thoughts and good energy, shouldn’t we choose to do so?
I am quite sure that there are people who think about me behind my back, perhaps saying, “It is easy to give advice to others; when the same situation happens to her, she will understand. We are here to see” like that. I have had enough amusing experiences to know that such opinions exist—and they probably always will. Honestly, though, they do not bother me.
There are all kinds of people and personalities in society, each with their own way of thinking. We have to learn to live with different perspectives. Their circumstances may have shaped the way they think, and I understand that.
But sometimes, I find myself wondering about one thing. If, for whatever reason, a person is unable to make a positive contribution, that is understandable. But when we have an opportunity to share positive thoughts, kindness, and good energy with others, shouldn’t we make the most of it? Aren’t there more people in this world who can choose to do that, Kanha ji?
Today, I simply put this whole tangle of thoughts into words. I expressed them with a pure heart, without anger or resentment toward anyone.
And while writing all this, I did not once worry about what the future holds for me, or what will happen to me tomorrow. I have absolutely no anxiety about it, because I have complete faith in the One who is watching over everything "My Kanhaji".
And then, this evening, Kanha ji gave me a beautiful experience—and it was this:
And then, in the evening, I met a beautiful 70–80-year-old couple. We spoke about traditions, Nag Panchami and life. As I was leaving, the auntie smiled and said, “You will do it. And who knows, the next generation may be just as enthusiastic as you. They will be fortunate to have you.”
I was speechless.
A question in the morning… and by evening, Kanha ji had planted a person on my path with the answer.
Maybe this is what “Yachi Dehi, Yachi Dola” truly means. ❤️
Jai Shri Krishna. 🙏
Moral: We may not control people’s opinions, but we can always choose to leave positivity wherever we go.
